Cataclysm is an add-on for the RTS Homeworld from Sierra and Barking Dog. There’s a new race called “The Beast” which gives this add-on it’s exclusive touch. It’s kind of a parasite that just converts everything that’s coming by. The player also has new units, like the mimic, which is a futuristic kamikaze fighter, a ramming frigate, that also just crashes into hostile ships, preferably cruisers and many more. Home base management became more complex. If one wants to research new ship classes one has to build an extra research lab for this; if one wants to research a new weapon technology one’s got to build another. There are four the player will come across during the game. If one wants to expand your fleet one has to build rooms for your pilots. All these parts are connected with the mother ship. The mission design is very different, the graphic-engine is just nice to look at, the music is atmospheric and multiplayers can fight on a local network or over the internet.
